Essie Resort Collection 2012

I've been wanting to post these for the longest time, but I kept getting sidetracked by other things. I'm not too big on Essie polishes, but when I saw the Resort Collection for 2012, I couldn't help myself. I liked every single color...so check it out!

Essie She's Picture Perfect shade
Essie She's Picture Perfect sunlight
Essie She's Picture Perfect shimmer
First one up is She's Picture Perfect, which is a lavender creme with a subtle pink shimmer. The pink shimmer is what drew me in, because I already have a lavender creme. I am always very drawn to this color, nevertheless. The shimmer is so subtle that it is only visible under sunlight, and I had a difficult time trying to capture it on camera but I think the last picture did a good job. The formula was good, and I used 2 coats for full coverage.

Essie Pink-A-Boo shade

Essie Pink-A-Boo shimmer
Pink-A-Boo is a light pink jelly with translucent glitter. The glitter flashes purples and blues which I could not capture at all. The way this type of glitter looks reminds me of the way sugar sparkles in the sunlight. I don't know how else to describe it! This was the most sheer in the collection and needed 3 coats.

Essie Sure Shot shade

Sure Shot is probably my favorite out of this collection. It is a pretty interesting effect with the color and the finish. The pictures make it appear more red but in reality this is a fuchsia (that is like...the hardest word to spell EVER), with pinkish shimmer. I want to say that it kind of has a metallic finish that doesn't end up streaky. Sure Shot was opaque in 1 coat, but for the pictures I used 2 coats because the macro+sunlight tends to exaggerate things sometimes...as you can see my nail smile in the second picture.

Essie No More Film shade

Last up is No More Film, which is the only one in the collection that doesn't have any shimmer. It is a blue-ish purple (blurple as some would call it) creme. I really like this color, but wow did it stain my nails really good! I was scared to remove it. It is super opaque and just needed 1 coat for full opacity. I really wasn't crazy about the formula for this one as well, which was a bit thinner and scary to control!

Where to buy
  • Essie can be found in many beauty supply stores, Ulta, CVS, or Nordstrom for $5-$8.
By the way, I am so sad the Olympics are over! I didn't even think I would be as interested in it as I was, and I didn't even have time to do any Olympics inspired nail art :( And now I have to wait another 4 years (or 2 if I count the Winter Olympics...but I don't find it as interesting). Oh well, next time will just have to do. Toodles!

  1. Gorgeous collection- I bought No More Film, and I'm crazy about it. A perfect one-coater (how rare!). Great swatches.

By the way- I'm kind of going to miss the Olympics, too. I really enjoyed watching them this time around!

    1. No More Film is probably my second favorite in this collection, despite the application and removal scariness! Love the color. I got surprisingly excited when I saw George Michael on during the closing ceremonies...I don't know why haha.

  2. I love No More Film. I didn't think I would like it until my fried let me borrow it. But I was wrong. Oh so wrong.

I honestly didn't pay that much attention to the Olympics. The one time I got REALLY excited about them was the last 10 minute of the closing ceremony when Take That performed.

    1. I didn't watch the whole thing because it was getting past my bed time >.< But I was excited to see George Michael come up! But disappointed that he didn't do the sexy sax song :(

    1. Glad you like it! The pink is really cute, but I think it would look a million times awesomer on someone more tan than me! Lol

    1. Some drug stores or beauty supply stores. Ulta sells Essie too I believe.
